The demand for reconstruction of breast with paraffinoma continues to challenge the expertise of the reconstructive surgeon.
The armamentarium of reconstructive maneuvers has broadened extensively over the past decade. Until 1980, the latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap constitutes the mainstay for distant tissue importation when a flap was judged necessary. However, the low transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous flap is a safe, reliable procedure and allows for reconstruction by autogenous tissue for a very favorable donor-site scar and consistently pleasing aesthetic results.
We have experienced a case of bilateral paraffinomas of breast and reconstructed breasts using both sides of transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous flap after subcutaneous mastectomy in one stage without a serious complication.
